HED3
- One of the fastest wheels you can buy today
- After countless hours in the wind-tunnel, THIS IS THE WHEEL that was used in 7 Tour de France victories by Lance Armstrong (for time-trials). If there were a faster front wheel, he’d of used it.
- Extremely cost-effective. Offered from $500 to $700 less than Zipp-404 or 808 wheelsets w/ S7 team discount
- Aerodynamic testing confirms that this is the fastest spoke’d (non-disc) wheel in the world
- Only 670 grams for the front wheel
- offered with either a carbon-tubular rim……or in a aluminum-clincher rim
- the front HED3 consistently outperforms the deepest deep-dish wheels in a majority of wind (“yaw”) angles
- NEW!!!....the HED3 wheels are also offered in a “HED3-Deep” option
- two sealed bearings on the front wheel, one sealed cartridge on the rear non-drive side and ¼” loose ball-bearings on the drive side

HED STINGER-50…60… or 90
- Used as a rear wheel or as a condition specific front wheel, the Stinger 90 is made for ripping time trials
- The Stinger-60 is the ultimate “all-road” wheel
- The Stinger-50 is a worthy aero climbing wheel
- Bladder molded with our patented “torodial” rim shape, the Stinger is aero and lightweight.
- Compared to a flat sided wheel, the toroidal shape keeps airflow more laminar and reduces the turbulent area behind the wheel.
- Designed with a high surface area, low weight and minimal drag, the Stinger 90 is a very fast wheel
- Offered in a 50mm, 60mm, or 90mm “super-deep” rims depths……can be mixed & matched for optimized speed and stability
- light carbon-tubular rim
- The Stinger is built with sonic hubs, bladed 6/4 titanium spokes front (for comfort), …..and bladed steel spokes rear (for stiffness and strength)
- CAN BE BUILT to a PowerTap hub to have wattage-meter & to use power data in training and racing
- See www.hedcycling.com for wheel weights for the Stinger-50, Stinger-60, & Stinger-90

HED JET-50…60…or 90
- The HED Jet is the deep-dish, aluminum-rimmed CLINCHER wheel offering from HED
- The Jet90 is at its best on high speed, non-technical courses. It is an ideal all conditions rear wheel or for races where discs are not allowed
- The Jet 60 was the “all-round” wheel chosen by the 2007 Ironman Hawaii Female World Champion
- Designed to excel at road races and crits, the Jet 50 is the newest Hed wheel
- “EX” version available for riders 190-225lbs. EX is laced with 24 spokes front and 28 rear to make more durable wheels. (+48g)
- The strengthened rim allows fewer spokes for less weight decreased drag
- Front spokes are 6/4 titanium for more weight savings. Front hubs are lightened to 79g, with a forged shell for strength and top quality bearings sporting low-drag seals
- The new Jet is race light and everyday strong……which makes it a perfect wheel to lace to a PowerTap wattage-meter
- There is not a lighter clincher aero wheel with an alloy brake surface available at any price.
- see www.hedcycling.com for wheel weights for the JET-50, JET-60, & JET-90

HED Disc
- Wind tunnel testing at the Texas A&M facility has proved the disc to be the most aerodynamically efficient of all the HED wheels
- Independent tests at Bath University England confirmed the benefits that a “lenticular” disc has measurable advantages over flat discs
- The lenticular shape smoothes the disturbed air produced by the rider and crosswinds, so airflow leaving the wheel surface is less turbulent than on a flat disc or wire spoked wheel. A reduction in turbulence is an increase in speed.
- The HED disc is available in both clincher and tubular, rear only, 700c and 650c. Shimano compatible cassette or as a single speed track version. Weight limit 200lbs
- see www.hedcycling.com for wheel weights of HED’s STANDARD lenticular Disc….& HED’s SUPERLIGHT lenticular Disc

HED Bastogne
- The HED "Bastogne" wheels are both light and strong. Light enough to uncork a powerful attack on harsh twelve-percent grades. Strong enough to lead the day's break over cobbled streets.
- This is HED’s ideal “everyday” wheel, available in Silver or Black. 27mm alloy rims with machined side walls
- Comes built with 18 bladed Ti spokes front, 24 bladed steel spokes rear, super-durable sonic hubs for Campy or Shimano
- A great training wheel to wheel to lace to a PowerTap wattage-meter
- A super wheel choice for cyclo-cross…….only 1409grams/set!!

HED Ceramic Bearings
- Hed has spent significant time investigating hub rolling resistance. With their test rig they compared steel vs. ceramic bearings, and bearing bore variations.
The biggest measurable difference was in bearing bore accuracy. Bores that wern’t concentric [or were undersized in the hub shell] …or oversized on the axle, made the most difference.
The wrong size bore, even as small as .001" undersized, deforms the bearing race and increases drag.
- Likewise, non-concentric bores bind the bearings slightly and increase bearing drag. These differences were evident in both an unloaded wheel and one loaded with 100lbs.
- There was a measurable drag difference between ceramic bearings and steel bearings when we tested unloaded wheels, but the difference was small enough that they could not measure it on a loaded wheel.
- --The upshot of the testing was this - HED continues to focus on high quality hubs with exact machining tolerances.
- Ceramic bearings do give a small but measurable reduction in drag. They also offer greatly increased durability and longevity. Based on this they are now an option on our wheels.
- $120 for wire spoke’d wheel set. (Jet, Stinger, Bastogne)…………..& $76.50 for H3 wheelset.
